Join the Alliance for Community Media
For almost a quarter of a century, the Alliance for Community Media has educated and advocated on behalf of community media. Thousands of groups and over a million volunteer producers, directors, presenters, and technical staff participate in Public, Educational, Governmental (PEG) access production annually. These professionals and volunteers producer more than 20,000 hours of new local programming each week. That’s more than NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and PBS combined. The Alliance for Community Media is committed to ensuring access to electronic media for all people regardless of race, creed, political or religious beliefs, life circumstances or ability to pay. The Alliance works to inform the public about the importance of media access through peer professional training and community activist networking. The Alliance provides support for individuals and organizations involved in community media through its national and regional conferences, website and listservs, quarterly journal, member newsletters, publications, video tapes, legislative and legal assistance.
When you become a member of the Alliance for Community Media you become part of a powerful voice that is increasingly being heard at the local, state and federal levels.
Join the Alliance today, and be an active participant in community media!
In order for democracy to flourish, people must be active participants in their government, educated to think critically and free to express themselves. The mission of the Alliance for Community Media is to advance democratic ideals by ensuring that people have access to electonic media and by promoting effective communication through community uses of media.
The Alliance for Community Media is a national, non-profit membership organization. Founded in 1976 as the National Federation of Local Cable Programmers, the Alliance represents the interests of community, religious, charitable groups and individuals who use Public, Educational, Government (PEG) access cable television channels and facilities to speak to their communities.
The Alliance for Community Media promotes political, regulatory and industry support for PEG access through its government and public relations programs, listservs and grassroots organizing; facilitates networking and education among people and organizations involved with community media through its national and regional conferences, and various special interest groups; supports community advocates with research and information on community programming and national policy issues; and monitors developments in telecommunications applications and advocates for the public’s access to emerging media systems.
Be a part of the only national organization that truly represents the interests of community media and has a readily mobilized constituency. Join the Alliance today! It doesn’t cost, it pays!
You can join as an individual or -- even better -- extend benefits to everyone on your staff by joining at the organizational level.
